Correcting a Factually Inaccurate Published Press Release

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

A factually incorrect article was published in the Miami Herald regarding a proposed 50-story condominium tower on the corner of 5th street and Alton Road. The article simply mirrors a press release that was issued by the developers and unfortunately omits an essential point: the parcel of land upon which the proposed development is located is zoned CPS-2, which provides for a maximum of 7 stories vertically. A project of this size and magnitude does not meet our planning and zoning regulations.

I have not seen a model of the proposed project, but I have heard of it. I believe it is important to clarify this because one of the cornerstones of my campaign was to make Miami Beach a better place to live and to promote responsible development with the highest possible level of public benefit.
